Research Interests:
Functional analysis and its applications, especially in Banach spaces theory, Orlicz spaces theory and PDE.
Research History:
Professor Shi has been engaged in functional analysis since 1982, mainly in Orlicz spaces and matrix theory. He has completed three programs of China Nature Science Foundation, one program of distinguished expert Foundation of Machine Making Ministry, and one key program of Heilongjiang Nature Science Foundation. He has maken great work for Geometry of Orlicz spaces. He worked out some open problems in Orlicz spaces such as uniformly rotundity in every direction, a criterion of Kottman coefficient for some Banach spaces. He has used successfully geometric skills in matrix study. He was been honored a distinguished professor by Machine Making Ministry in 1995, and a Leading researcher in 1996 by Machine Making Ministry. He has been invited to work at the Princeton University in 2001, the university of Iowa 1995-1996, 1998, and Texas A&M University in 1998 and 2001.
